Eighty million year old clues challenge modern day dinosaur detectives who search the badlands of Argentina's Patagonia in their attempt to solve ancient mysteries. There are four major regions of the world that hold most of the resources to solving the riddles of earth's ancient past: Mongolia, China, the Great Plains of the United States, and Argentina's Patagonia region. This 60 minute documentary allows viewers to experience, up close, the badlands of Argentina, where the discovery of a major dinosaur egg nest site and other active dinosaur digs have occurred including a site that may uncover the world's largest dinosaur. "Discoveries... Argentina, Dinosaurs explores the mysteries of Argentina's rugged Northern Patagonia region as teams of paleontologists, biologists and geologists discover the secrets of its prehistoric past. The program follows four scientific research groups as they investigate an oval shaped geographic region, covering an area of over 250 square miles, in their quest to learn more about the dinosaur's mysterious past. The research area consists of four significant, separate and extremely important paleontological digs in various stages of discovery and study. These areas in Northern Patagonia are Aca Mahuida, Rincon De Los Sauces, La Buitrera and El Chacon. This discovery and subsequent research helps prove that Sauropods, the four legged plant eating dinosaurs that grew to lengths of 145 feet, were actually hatched from eggs. The mystery deepens as these scientists have difficulty finding any remains near the nests of the adult (parent) Sauropods, who laid the discovered eggs. However, in the oil fields just outside the Rincon De Los Sauces area of the dinosaur oval, another team of scientists, lead by Argentinean paleontologist, Jorge Calvo, do find major fossil remains of adult dinosaurs. In another area, a third group of scientists find fossilized dinosaur tracks, from both herbivores and carnivores, along the shoreline of a small lake near El Chacon. Were these Sauropod adults the ones who laid the eggs? Scientist are still researching the answers to this question. Viewers will also follow yet another group of scientists who believe they have discovered evidence of the world's largest creature ever to walk the earth, near La Buitrera.
