Life took Curt Siodmak on an amazingly varied trip, from a filmextra in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis in 1926 to newspaper reporter to screenwriter to film director.

With Bride of the Gorilla (1951) he was clearly in his element, as evidenced by its enthusiastic box-office reaction.

Police Commissioner Taro (Lon Chaney) tells a nightmarish tale that unfolds at a rubber plantation on the banks of the Amazon River. Klaas Van Gelder (Paul Cavanagh) is murdered by his wife Dina’s (Barbara Payton) handsome lover Barney Chavez (Raymond Burr). The stage is set for a horrendous conclusion to this nightmare...

Running Time: 70 Minutes
MPAA Ratings: NR

When brawny hunk Barney Chavez kills plantation owner Klaas Van Gelderand marries his beautiful wife Dina, the jungle is not an impotent witness - a witch sees the deed and places a curse on Barney that will rob him of all vestiges of humanness. Soon, the Amazon basin becomes a slaughterhouse. Dina’s secret admirer, Dr. Viet, warns her in vain thatthere is something seriously wrong with her husband. As Police Commissioner Taro - who also narrates this unfolding nightmare -launches a futile investigation, matters rapidly deteriorate at VanGelder Manor.

In a last-ditch attempt to salvage his sanity,Barney decides to sell the plantation. But too late - his bestialnature now takes complete hold of him and he takes to the jungle. Asthis nightmare of witchcraft and pure evil reaches a shattering conclusion, you will hold your breath to keep from screaming!

" Bride of the Gorilla transported me back to the time when good acting and story had to make up for advanced camera technique. It was unusual to see Lon Chaney in a positive role - and he carries it off with real style. But the real magic lies with Barbara Payton and Raymond Burr. I would call it genuine ‘animal magnetism’, pun intended. Seriously, a great horror film from A2ZCDS."
Adam Crawford (Carson City, Nevada)

" Raymond Burr really turns up the jungle heat in this fantastic vintage film (Bride of the Gorilla) He is perfect for the role of a man turning into a monster - not justbecause of his gorgeous physique, but because he conveys a broodingkind of evil that makes your skin crawl. Don’t miss this one if you’rea lover of vintage Hollywood films."
Amanda Zediski (Jonesboro, Arkansas)
