A building once home to pre-frontal lobotomies and electro-shock therapy, Aradale Asylum delivers misery and paranormal activity in enormous doses. With sprawling buildings each with a tale to tell, the team takes on the challenge of communicating with the asylum’s numerous lost souls.
Originally known as the Aradale Lunatic Asylum, Aradale Mental Hospital is Australia’s largest abandoned psychiatric institute. The oppressing complex was commissioned to accommodate the growing number of “lunatics” in Victoria in the mid-1800’s. Construction commenced in 1864, with the vast complex opening for business in 1867. At its height, Aradale housed over 2000 patients. Reports vary, but up to 10,000 patients may have died within its grim walls. Hailing from all corners of the globe, six of the best ghost hunters in the business have joined forces to investigate paranormal activity in Australia’s most haunted locations. Led by the highly experienced and committed Robb Demarest, the Haunting: Australia team travel across the country unearthing ghostly evidence and seeking answers to often asked questions.
