Andes: Floating on Titicaca Discover the blue waters of Lake Titicaca, the highest elevated navigable lake in the world. After a short stop to Puno, the major city on the lake's shore, visit the Uros Islands, home of the oldest civilization of the region. These islands, made out of totora, a combination of reed and mud, float on the lake. Continue to Taquile Island, which preserves remarkable customs in dress and traditions. From there, visit the pre-Inca ruins of Sillustani, the old necropolis of Tiahuanaco, that has unique chullpas, cylindrical funerary tombs.
