Bongiorno! Join travel expert Laura McKenzie as she takes you on the road less traveled throughout the Italian countryside. Exploring the beautiful area outside of Rome called Lazio, Laura discovers wineries, history, and beautiful little medieval villages.
The first stop you’ll take is to the Papal Palace in the Alban Hills over-looking Lake Albano, the official summer residence of the Pope. A short distance from there you can also visit Monte Cassino, one of the holiest Catholic sites. From there, Laura will take you to Fumone to visit the Castello Marchesi Longhi de Paolis di Fumone. This ancient feudal residence has a few legends that are sure to keep you entertained for hours! Afterwards you can enjoy its popular bed and breakfast facilities. In the neighboring village of Vico nel Lazio, Laura weaves her way through the cobblestone streets to the breathtaking gardens and the trees. The elegant Governor’s Palace and the Church of St. Michele Arcangelo are two other sights not to be missed. You can’t visit Italy without tasting the fruits of its labors. The Frascati Valley is a famous establishment known for its award-winning wine. They also grow olives here and make a boutique olive oil. Yum! Well, there’s one thing that definitely crosses the language barrier: good wine, good food, and good people! I have to say, the Italian countryside is bellisimo!
