This cold Nordic country will find a warm spot in your heart
This cold Nordic country will find a warm spot in your heart. Over 1,000 years ago, a disgruntled Viking gave this country its cold sounding name. But there's an old saying that 'Iceland is not a land of ice' as the friendliness of the people has melted much of it away. In fact, only 12 percent of the country is covered in ice and the average winter temperature in Reykjavik is warmer than New York City! However, we will journey atop Europe's largest glacier, and float among ice sculptures in a spectacular lagoon. But that's just the tip of the iceberg! Travel with us as we: - take a warm dip in the healing waters of the Blue Lagoon;
- whitewater raft down a glacial river;
- visit the world's northern-most capital;
- collect seabird eggs while dangling high above the ocean;
- play golf under the midnight sun;
- watch the fiery ordeal of Heimaey's volcanic eruption;
- explore one of the world's most magnificent bird cliffs;
- taste two year old duck eggs preserved in sheep dung ash;
- see majestic fjord, cascading waterfalls, millions of seabirds and much, much more!
