The largest of the ABC islands in the Caribbean, Curaçao, is just off the coast of Venezuela. It is truly a tropical paradise, with a little more European flavor than the other surrounding islands.
First, Laura will take you to Willemstad, the capital of Curaçao. Visitors are drawn to the oldest synagogue in the western hemisphere featuring Dutch Colonial architecture. The residents are a great island treasure, too. One of the locals here is a healer, and began Den Paradera, a botanical garden, home to over 300 species of wild medicinal plants.
Harking to its 18th century origins, trading and selling goods is still a big draw in Curacao. Travel savvy Laura will take you shopping for good deals on jewelry, clothing and electronics. For some history, you’ll visit Fort Nassau, which once protected part of the island from invaders, but is now a big draw for visitors.
For a little adventure, Laura will take you to the Dolphin Academy Curaçao. Here, visitors learn about dolphins and interact with them one on one!
There’s so much to enjoy in Curacao: the history, the island, the people, and the marine life. While most visitors just get a quick one day look while cruising by, it’s definitely a great place to stop and stay for a while!
