We take you to Northern Romania and the Maramures - one of the most picturesque regions in The Carpathians. Here we will experience traditional festivals and weddings and learn about the evolution of Romanian music with renowned folk singer Grigore Lese and pop idol Loredana Groza. We will visit historic wooden churches and villages which have been miraculously preserved.Presenter Charlie Ottley travels across the top of the country towards Moldova to meet the monks at the famous Bucovina painted monasteries. Our journey in the Carpathians will end at the dramatic Bicaz Gorge. En route we will be meeting a number of local and internationally acclaimed characters and looking at ways tourism is helping to preserve the last great wilderness in Europe. The series culminates with a final chat with HRH The Prince of Wales who once again describes his passion for this unique country.
